Wally Szczerbiak Interview

The Official Cavaliers site has been updated with a video of an interview with Wally. I'd recommend you check it out.

Here's the interview text for those of you that are interested.

Fred: Hey thanks for clicking on Cavs.com, Wally Szczerbiak along side, Wally how s- it's not strange to you you're used to it, but kinda in part for the fans, when the other team knows you play so well and vice-versa, how much of a still excess is in execution? (*phrase hard to understand)
Wally: It's a lot of excess always in execution and you need uh-- our coaches have us fully prepared for what they're doing, we're just worried about ourselves, and uh, getting in the 2nd and 3rd option, and taking good shots, and playing agressively, and playing Cavalier basketball which starts with defense. And you build an identity throughout the regular season, and then you carry it through the playoffs, and that's our identity: playing defense, and that's what's going to help us win games.
Fred: Sometimes it can be analysis and analysis--you can think too much, how do you filter out that stuff and still play basketball this time of year?
Wally: I think we do a good job of that and the players on this team realize that you can only coach so much, you gotta go out there and perform and let your instincts take over and play the game you love and have fun out there. This is what it's all about, playing in the playoffs is about having fun as a basketball play, coaches have you completely prepared and you have that in the back of your mind, that you've done everything you can to prepare for the game, and then you just go out there and let your skills take over.
Fred: While this team is still focused it still has that ability to remain very loose, is this as good a combination balance as you've seen for this time of year?
Wally: Yeah, I think so, our attention to detail is much better than when I got here last year. Our practices are a lot more...--we're retaining a lot more stuff, we really want to learn from the coaches and the coaches are doing a great job of drilling it and muscle memory, where it becomes second nature in our rotations and our offense and our defense and we actively knowing what the defenses are doing, I think everyone's doing a great job this year and it took time, it took time to be together and it took time to put in all the hard work and coaches work hard and players work hard, and so we just gotta keep it up.
Fred: You guys still though, have fun, when the right moment comes along, to release that pressure.
Wally: Yeah, everyone's got their little niche in this team, everyone's got their little thing that can make someone else laugh, and that also takes time; that's what chemistry is all about... being together, building trust in each other, building that (comradery?) that comes along with time, and the regular season is good for that.
Fred: For sure, thanks Wally.
Wally: No problem.

(Fred continues to talk about the Cavs and the video ends.)
